Immunization

When it comes to disease prevention, immunizations are key. Getting vaccinated protects you and those around you. Our main focus is to help you and your loved ones stay up-to-date on the recommended vaccines. We offer a variety of immunizations including EPI. Aster Pharmacy is an approved center for the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) vaccines by the Government of Bangladesh. We are the first pharmacy in Bangladesh to provide in-store EPI vaccinations at our community’s convenience.

Alongside the EPI vaccination, we also offer vaccinations against diseases such as flu, pneumonia, typhoid, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, hepatitis A &B, measles, mumps, and rubella, meningitis, rabies, cholera, varicella, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, etc. At Aster Pharmacy, we store all these vaccines maintaining the cold chain with due care and caution. EPI Vaccination

The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) vaccines are supplied free of cost by the Government of Bangladesh. You can get your children vaccinated against six childhood diseases at Aster Pharmacy. The following EPI vaccines are available for the age group 0-2 years We also offer Tetanus vaccines for women aged 15-49.

BCG

The BCG vaccine protects against tuberculosis, which is also known as TB. TB is a serious infection that affects the lungs and sometimes other parts of the body such as the bones, joints, and kidneys. It can also cause meningitis. The vaccine should be given just after birth, but if not given as early as possible (usually at 6th week of the child’s age).

Pentavalent

Pentavalent is used to immunize patients from the following:

Diphtheria is a bacterial infection that mainly affects the nose, throat, and sometimes skin.

Pertussis is also known as whooping cough is a highly contagious respiratory disease.

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that attacks the liver and can cause jaundice as well as acute and chronic disease.

Haemophilus influenza B life-threatening infection that can lead to serious illness, especially in children. Symptoms include severe headache, stiff neck, convulsions or seizures, severe drowsiness, difficulty waking up, loss of consciousness, or difficulty with breathing.

Tetanus- is a serious illness that causes convulsions (seizures) and severe muscle spasms that can be strong enough to cause bone fractures of the spine.

The vaccine should be given at the 6th, 10th, and 14th week of the child’s age.

Poliomyelitis is often called polio or infantile paralysis, is an infectious disease caused by the poliovirus. In about 0.5% of cases, muscle weakness results in an inability to move.

The vaccine should be given at the 6th, 10th, and 14th week of the child’s age Inactivated poliomyelitis vaccine (IPV)

IPV also protects against Poliomyelitis. This additional injection form of the vaccine against poliomyelitis ensures better protection against the diseases.

The vaccine should be given at the 14th week of the child’s age.
